Simple Pendulum Formula

A simple pendulum is defined as a point mass attached to a light inextensible string and suspended from a fixed support. A vertical line passing through fixed support is the mean level of the simple pendulum.

Also, the vertical distance between the point of suspension and the center of mass of the suspended body is called the length of the simple pendulum and is denoted by L.

Simple Pendulum Calculator Formula is given by,

Time period of the simple pendulum T(s) in second is equal to the product of the 2π is multiply by the length of the pendulum L(cm) in centimeter is divided by the acceleration of the pendulum g(m/s) in meter per second.Hence the simple pendulum calculator formula has been written as,

T(s) = 2π * √ ( L(cm) / g(m/s))

F(H) = 1/T(s)

Where,

T is the time period of the pendulum sec

F is the frequency of the pendulum Hertz

L is the length of the pendulum cm

G is the acceleration of the pendulum m/s

Simple Pendulum Calculation:

Example 1:

If the length of the simple pendulum is 20m, find the time period and frequency of pendulum?

Solution :

The length of simple pendulum l = 20 cm

Acceleration due to gravity g = 9.8 m/s

Time period T= 2π * √ ( L / g )

T = 2π * √ (20 /9.8)

= 2 * 3.14* √2.0408

=2 * 3.14* 1.42

= 8.9176

Frequency f = 1/T

F = 1/ 8.917

F = 0.112

Example 2:

Calculate the time period taken for the motion pendulum by the given details.

Length l = 35m

Acceleration of gravity g = 40 m/s2

Solution :

Time period T= 2π * √ ( L / g )

T = 2 * 3.14 * √ ( 35 / 40)

T = 6.28 *  √ 0.875
