Heat of Vaporization Formula and Sums

Heat of Vaporization Formula :

Heat of vaporization formula is Hv(j/g) in joule per gram is equal to the product of heat q(j) in joule and divided by the mass of the substance m(kg)  in kilogram. Hence the Heat vaporization formula can be written as,

Hv(j/g) = q(j)/m(kg)

Where,

Hv → vaporization heat in j/g

m→ mass of the substance in kg or g

q→ heat in j

Sample Sums :

Sums 1 :

Calculate the total amount of heat energy that required to vaporize 200 grams of H20? in a the heat of vaporization for H20 is 3452 J/g.

Solution :

The  heat of vaporization formula

Hv=q/m

q= Hv *m

q=3452 *200

Therefore q= 690400 J

Sum 2:

Calculate the total amount of heat energy that required to vaporize  150 grams of H2 .In  the heat of vaporization for H20 is 6000. J/g,

Solution :

The heat of vaporization formula

Hv=q/m

q= Hv *m

q=6000*150

Therefore q= 900000
